In
order to transform abstract symbols into meaningful letters, Sunform's
unique methodology utilizes visual images in conjunction with stories
which serve as a springboard to elicit specific letter sounds for
reading and spelling and integrated hand motor movements for writing. |

Pictures
Literacy
The carefully chosen images
stimulate imagination and elicit specific sounds to
prevent certain reading and spelling problems,
while fostering skills that
promote literacy.

Stories
Literacy
Sunform's carefully crafted stories verbally name the
picture (Cat Catching) promoting phonemic
awareness which includes alliteration, sound segmentation,
and sound recall necessary to make a sound-symbol correspondence
in order to develop
reading decoding skills essential for
literacy.

Pictures
Legibility
Images have been carefully drawn to match Sunform's letter
shapes and thereby give the abstract symbol meaning. Letter
shapes and pictures have been specifically designed to encourage
students to cross the midline requiring them to form counterclockwise
circles, diagonal lines, and continuous strokes. These components,
according to our research, are necessary for legibility.

Stories
Legibility
The stories also describe the action contained
within the illustration. The shape of the picture and the
action,
combined with Sunform's motor plan, transform the letter
into a picture while guiding the student hand movements
to
form legible letters.
